Dr. V. Sudarsan obtained his masters degree in Chemistry from IIT Madras, in the year 1993 and joined Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) through 37th batch of the BARC training school. He obtained his Ph. D. degree in Chemistry based on the work carried out in the field of structural aspects of glassy materials in the year 2002 from Mumbai University. Subsequently he worked for a period of two years at University of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, where he was involved in the synthesis and characterization of bright luminescent nano-materials. He is currently working on the synthesis and characterization of glasses and luminescent nano-materials for the development of solid state lighting application.

Dr. Kaustava Bhattacharyya joined Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in the year 2002 after completing his Masters from Burdwan University. He completed his PhD from BARC in the field of catalysis in year 2009. He went to Northwestern University, Chicago, USA to complete his Post-Doctoral studies and was a visiting scientist at Washington University at Saint Louis, USA. His research interests include: (i) Material Science; ii) Catalysis mainly photocatalytic (oxidation/reduction) reactions for environmental and energy applications; iii)Mechanistic studies for surface reactions (in situ FTIR, in situ XPS)(iv) Hydrogen energy (v)Understanding the surface behaviour for catalytic reactions (using XPS, AR-XPS, AES, ISS. SEM, SAM like techniques) and establishing the structure activity correlation. He is the recipient of DAE Young Scientist Award-2012. He was awarded the Young Research Associate-MAS-2017. He has more than 58 publications in peer reviewed journals. He is an Assistant Professor in the Homi Bhabha National Institute.
